Cookie Policy

Last updated: June 8, 2025

1) Overview

This Cookie Policy explains how [Crimson Chronicles, LLC] (“Crimson Chronicles,” “we,” “us,” “our”) uses cookies and similar technologies on our website. It works together with our Privacy Policy and Terms of Use.

Contact for all questions (including privacy/cookies): production@crimsonchronicles.com

2) What cookies & similar tech are

  • Cookies are small files stored on your device to make websites work and to remember things like preferences.

  • Local/Session Storage lets a site save information in your browser (e.g., your cookie choices).

  • Pixels/Tags/SDKs are small pieces of code that help measure performance or deliver features.

3) What we collect via cookies

Depending on your choices, cookies may collect:

  • Device and browser info (type, version, settings)

  • Usage data (pages viewed, time on page, scroll/click events, referring URL)

  • Approximate location derived from IP (country/city level)

  • Your consent choices (what you accepted/rejected and when)

We do not collect sensitive categories via cookies.

4) Cookie categories we use

We group technologies into four categories. Only Strictly Necessary are always on; the others are optional and require your consent.

  1. Strictly Necessary (always on)
Required for core site functions: security, load balancing, form submission, consent logging, and keeping you logged in to the preferences center. You cannot opt out of these in our tool, but you can block them in your browser (the site may not work correctly).

  2. Functional (optional)
Improve your experience (e.g., remembering language or UI preferences). If off, the site still works but may be less convenient.

  3. Analytics (optional)
Help us understand site performance and improve content (aggregated metrics like total visits, time on page). IPs are processed in a privacy-aware way where supported (e.g., IP anonymization). We do not use analytics for cross-site tracking.

  4. Marketing (optional; off by default)
Used only if/when we run campaigns or embed third-party media that set their own cookies (e.g., video players, social embeds). We do not run behavioral ad targeting on this site. If this changes, we’ll update this policy and the banner.

5) Consent & how to manage choices

  • On your first visit, you’ll see a banner with Accept All, Reject Non-Essential, and Manage Preferences.

  • You can change choices anytime via “Cookie Settings” in the site footer.

  • If you ignore the banner, only Strictly Necessary cookies run by default.

Global Privacy Control (GPC): If your browser sends GPC, we treat it as an opt-out of Analytics and Marketing by default, even if you haven’t interacted with the banner.

Do Not Track (DNT): Browsers vary and no standard exists; we currently do not respond to DNT signals. Use Cookie Settings to control categories.

6) Legal bases

  • Strictly Necessary: legitimate interests (site security/operations).

  • Functional, Analytics, Marketing: consent. You can withdraw or change consent any time via Cookie Settings.

7) Third-party providers

We may use reputable vendors to host the site, process forms, prevent spam/abuse, and measure performance. When those services are integrated, they may set or read cookies as described in their policies. We only enable Analytics/Marketing vendors if you’ve consented to those categories.

Examples (may change over time): hosting/CDN, performance monitoring, analytics, anti-spam, video players, email delivery. See your Cookie Settings panel for current categories and vendors.

8) Cookie durations

  • Session cookies are deleted when you close the browser.

  • Persistent cookies remain for a defined period. Typical durations:

    • Strictly Necessary (consent log / load balancer): up to 12 months

    • Functional (preferences): up to 12 months

    • Analytics: up to 13 months

    • Marketing: varies by integration; disabled unless you consent

Exact lifetimes can vary; check the Cookie Settings panel for current details.

9) Local storage & similar technologies

We may use local storage to remember your cookie choices or UI settings (e.g., whether you dismissed a banner). Local storage persists until you clear it in your browser or change choices in Cookie Settings.

10) Browser controls

Most browsers let you block or delete cookies. Doing so may impact site functionality (especially Strictly Necessary). Helpful pages include your browser’s Settings → Privacy & Security menu.

11) Children & minors

Our site and forms are intended for adults (18+) and for parents/guardians submitting on behalf of minors. We do not use cookies to serve targeted advertising to minors. For details about how we handle minors’ data, see our Privacy Policy.

12) International transfers

Where cookie-related data is processed outside your region (e.g., in the U.S.), we use appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses where required) and restrict access to those who need it to operate the service.

13) California/US state notices

We do not sell personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. If that changes, we’ll provide a “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” link and honor required opt-out signals (including GPC).

14) Changes to this policy

We may update this Cookie Policy. When we do, we’ll change the “Last updated” date and, where required, present the banner again or provide prominent notice.
